Dental Laboratory Technician
Up one level- General Dental Laboratory Techniques
- This course will present specific dental terminology needed for the Dental Laboaratory Technician. The student will learn about dental materials, tooth morphology, oral anatomy and occlusion. Student will gain competency in competent in general laboratory techniques. The course will also include information about aspects of the development and technical description of adult human teeth.
- Dental Laboratory Externship
- Students will participate in a clinical externship in a dental laboratory to learn work skills and a variety of techniques used in the work environment. Competencies demonstrated during previous course will be performed in the work environment.
- Dental Laboratory Orientation
- This course provides a foundation to a career in Dental Laboratory. Students will learn the roles and responsibilities of the dental laboratory technician. Students will study the history and development of the profession and professional organizations related to the Dental Laboratory. Laboratory safety, infection control, legal and ethical standards and preventive dentistry will also be studied in this course.
- Complete Dentures I
- Students will practice restorations, casting, dies, working with models, alloys, and the use of a variety of techniques for denture fabrication.
- Complete Dentures II
- This course presents knowledge and assists the student to develop more in depth skills in the fabrication and repair of dentures.
- Crown and Bridge
- Students completing this course will receive a diploma in crown and bridge manufacturing and will be able to sit for the certified dental laboratory technician exam.
