Dental Assistant

Prior to beginning this Career Major, the student must complete the Core Curriculum, Core Medical Terminology and Anatomy and Physiology, Core First Aid and Healthcare Provider CPR.

Internship in the Dental Office

Students will participate in a limited clinical internship in a dental office.

Introduction to Dental Assisting

An overview of dental specialties which includes all the dental team members, reviewing educational requirements, responsibilities, and job duties.

Clinical Sciences for the Dental Assistant

The content of this course will prepares the student to participate in laboratory and clinical experiences necessary to develop the skills to become a dental assistant. The course will provide classroom and laboratory instruction.

Dental Science

This course will provide instruction in Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology especially as it relates to application to dental treatment and care. The student will learn about blood borne pathogens. The student will become familiar with the principles of diet and nutrition as they relate to the dental patient.
