- The process of measuring performance against a set of standards through examination, practical test, performance observation, and/or the completion of portfolios of work and assignments.

Placement
- The designation given regarding the education and/or employment status of a student who completes a program or course.

Positive Placement
- A unit of measurement that represents the number of students placed (military + employed related + employed non-related + continuing education) divided by the total number of known program and course completers.

Postsecondary Education
- An instructional program whose curriculum is designed for students who are beyond the compulsory age for high school.

Postsecondary Tech Prep Student
- Student who has completed a secondary education component of a Tech Prep program and has enrolled in the postsecondary education component of a Tech Prep program at an institution of higher education.

Postsecondary education Tech Prep student
- A student who has completed the secondary education component of a Tech Prep program, and has enrolled in the postsecondary education component of a Tech Prep program at an institution of higher education. (Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006)

Postsecondary/Adult Student
- A student who is no longer enrolled in a comprehensive school system or its equivalent and is enrolled in a CTE program or course. Students beyond the compulsory age for high school who are enrolled in an educational program.

Pre-Employment Training
- Preparation in interviewing techniques, writing resumes, letters of application, follow-up letters, listening techniques, and learning-to-learn skills.

Preparatory Services
- Activities required for preparing students in Grades 7-14 and special populations to enter and successfully complete the 2+2 Tech Prep program. Such activities may include career advisement, development of a six-year plan of study, and career assessment when such activities are not being provided by another entity or funding source.
