High Schools That Work (HSTW)
- A framework of goals, key practices, and key conditions that schools implement to raise student achievement and meet higher standards. The primary goals are to raise the mathematics, communication, problem-solving, and technical achievement of students and to blend the essential content of traditional college-preparatory studies with quality career and technical studies. HSTW is the largest and oldest of the Southern Regional Education Board's school improvement initiatives for high school and middle grade leaders and teachers. More than 1,200 HSTW sites in 32 states are using the framework of HSTW Goaks and Key Practices to raise student achievement.

- Occupations that require industry-recognized certificates, credentials, postsecondary training, apprenticeship, or degrees. Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act of 2006.

- Occupations with a statewide average hourly rate equal to or greater than the average hourly rate of all occupations as reported by the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission. The current statewide average hourly rate is $15.32 in Oklahoma according to the Oklahoma Wage Network.

Human Resources (HR)
- The entity of the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education that coordinates hiring and orientation activities, provides professional growth opportunities, and specific training programs for staff members and maintains the compensation, benefits, and performance review systems.
