The Meinders School of Business on the Oklahoma City University campus played host to the event. There were many positive comments about the conference and its effectiveness. The guest speaker, Dr. Vince Orza, President of the Meinders School of Business at OCU, encouraged the students to "Leave a Legacy" as they go throughout life. The Chapter Officer Training Workshops presented by our state officers were both beneficial and helpful in training our DECA officers. Kelly Barnes worked with students in the Leadership Skills Development Workshops encouraging them to take their leadership skills and use them to motivate their chapter. Membership Campaign DECA's Membership Campaign is an exciting way for all DECA Chapters to increase their visibility of the organization and the excellent work that it does. This year the National DECA theme is "Make Your Mark," while the Oklahoma DECA theme is "Leaving a Legacy." Both are meant to encourage students to make a mark in their community through leadership development, vocational understanding, civic consciousness and social intelligence. It is important that DECA membership get involved by concentrating their efforts on the local or the global community. Everyone can "Make Your Mark" by "Leaving a Legacy." If you were unable to attend one of the sessions, you may still be able to obtain information about the session if the presenter shared documents with us. New Teacher Academy The New Teacher Academy was held on July 21-23, 2008 in Stillwater at Meridian Technology Center. The two follow-up sessions are scheduled for September 18 and January 15 at the Oklahoma Department of Career Tech in Stillwater. All new career tech teachers are required to attend all five days of training. The DECA Fall Leadership Conference was held on October 21, 2008 in Oklahoma City. The Meinders School of Business on the Oklahoma City University campus played host to the event.
