Instructional Services

Implements a comprehensive statewide staff development program for career and technology educators and our partners. Energies are focused on coordinating professional development activities, implementing teacher induction/mentoring programs, developing teacher recruitment/retention programs, working with agency divisions on curriculum inservices, providing workshops for teachers seeking National Board Certification, collaborating with higher education, initiating leadership activities, coordination of special projects and providing ODCTE conference coordination.

Summer Conference

This conference is the major professional development activity for Oklahoma CareerTech teachers, counselors, administrators and state staff. Participants will learn innovative technical and instructional skills. They will also have the opportunity to network with and learn from their counterparts throughout the state. The CareerTech Expo is held in conjunction with the conference. The exposition is a valuable resource to CareerTech educators, featuring over 150 exhibiting companies showcasing the latest products and services available in the career and technology education field!

Teacher Induction

The Teacher Induction system is a seamless, competency-based instructional system designed to help any teacher entering or already within the CareerTech system in Oklahoma. However, its main focus is for non-degreed teachers. In this system, our local technology centers, two state universities, and the state agency work together to provide the support, instruction, and resource facilitation that teachers need to perform effectively in the classroom.

Leadership and Development Programs

As our system continues to experience changes in key administrative positions both in the field and the department, we need to continue preparing a cadre of individuals to have a better understanding of our system and to have an interest in leadership and administrative positions in our statewide CareerTech system. The Oklahoma Department of CareerTech is committed to providing quality leadership development.

ICAT & PDC

The Instructional Services Division of ODCTE provides two valuable web tools--ICAT and the PDC. Use ICAT, your Learning and Content Management System, to create On-Line courses, deliver interactive media, and much more. Your PDC, The Professional Development Center hosts many resources to assist you in your Professional Development Goals.
